Simplify and evolve the digital consumer journey

As Creative Lead, Design Director at Publicis Sapient on Verizon for 3 1/2 years, I helped evolve the company’s customer's experiences and visual design language across its expanding consumer and business product portfolio during its shift from a telecommunications to a technology brand.

Is an next-gen learning experience designed to support immersive education, personalized development, and scalable content. Enabling teachers and students to explore, learn, and grow, while reinforcing a broader commitment to digital inclusion.

Reimagining a digital classroom

I led the design direction for VIL, working with teams across design, strategy, research, and education partners to shape a student-facing learning platform.

Together we translated educator insights into a clear experience vision that supports teachers, engages students, and integrates content from multiple partners. The visual language blends schematic animations, hand-drawn accents, parallax, and playful “easter eggs” to evoke a classroom feel and keep students engaged.

Built with educators

Our work was shaped through a collaborative, research-driven process. We co-created with teachers and district leaders through interviews, Kano process, and remote workshops, mapping entry points and journeys to define clear paths for each audience.

A cohesive pattern library aligned with Verizon Brand, its design system, and accessibility standards, ensured the experience could scale consistently.

Flexible learning paths

A growing library of educator resources gives teachers the flexibility to bring emerging technologies into their classrooms. Lessons can be remixed and customized, allowing teachers to shape the learning experience while guiding students through progressive learning paths.

Explore on the go

While immersive learning is best experienced on larger screens, VIL is optimized for mobile discovery. Students and educators can explore modules, research topics, and browse resources on the go — making it easy to start learning anywhere and continue the experience in the classroom.

Designed to Scale

To support a growing library of content and partners, the platform relies on a flexible system of patterns and components aligned with Verizon’s design standards. This foundation keeps the experience consistent while allowing new learning modules, tools, and emerging technologies to be introduced as the platform evolves.

Conclusion

VIL extends learning beyond the classroom, giving educators access to tools and content that bring emerging technologies into everyday teaching. Designed to support hybrid learning environments, the platform aims to reach 10 million underserved students by 2030.

This was a great example of design thinking, co-creating with educators and partners to shape better learning experiences.
